
International pop superstar Beyonce Knowles flashed a wide smile upon arriving in Manila yesterday afternoon.Here for a concert in Taguig City, Knowles and her 70-member entourage—composed of her crew, musicians and personal security—arrived on board a chartered jet at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 2:10 p.m.Knowles will appear tonight in her one-night only show at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.Her arrival drew a crowd of photographers, reporters and airport workers who waited patiently for the star under a light drizzle on the airport ramp.Before Knowles’ appeared, a flight attendant came out of the jet to place a floral arrangement at the bottom of the stairs and a blue carpet on the landing.Her private security, who were clad in black, positioned themselves around a parked Ford Excursion while scanning the crowd.A few minutes later, with a bodyguard ahead of her, Knowles emerged from the aircraft.Descending the airline steps with care, the singer smiled and waved at the media who waited for her behind a security cordon.The 26-year-old artist, the voice behind hits like “Irreplaceable” and “Baby Boy,” wore a white long-sleeved shirt and tight-fitting jeans.Flanked by her bodyguards and locally hired private security, she paused briefly to face photographers before boarding the waiting SUV, part of a five-car convoy.Airport workers and even police grabbed the chance to snap shots of the superstar using digital cameras and camera phones.Knowles’ aircraft, a 172-seater MD-83 jet, flew in from Shanghai, China.
The chartered Blue Line plane will stay at the Naia’s remote parking area until the artist flies out tomorrow morning.
