Clothing firm Abercrombie & Fitch has sued Beyoncé Knowles in a bid to stop the singer from launching a line of perfumes. The clothing firm claims a line titled 'Sasha Fierce', a reference to the title of her current best selling album 'I Am.....Sasha Fierce', would pose 'a likelihood of confusion' to their 'Fierce' brand.
The lawsuit relates to potential trademark infringement, unfair competition and deceptive trade practices. According to reports, Knowles intends to launch her new brand in early 2010.
Executives at Coty Inc, partners in Knowles' venture, deny that there will be a clash and claim they do not intend to use the terms 'Fierce' or 'Sasha Fierce' to market her product.
